ABOUT

Carlín Díaz (b. 1991, Caracas), Franco-Venezuelan artist
Living and working in Brussels, Belgium.

“ These circles act as barriers between interior and exterior planes of existence, reminiscent of portals that gleam with colour and obtrude the worlds laying beyond them. The remainder of each image depicts the vernacular of our everyday lives: physical elements such as walls, tables, and doors that are rendered with primary forms, symbols, and textures. Ultimately, the paintings presented here call for empathy, understanding, and an impassioned awareness of the present moment. Although we may never be able to fully access each other’s internal worlds, we share space physically and can feel another person’s presence as if it was electromagnetic interference. Whether it is inside a building, outside with the sky above, or underground in the darkness, we feed off each other’s energy in the same way that colours tingle when placed next to each other.”
